Define Work and Life to Create Better Balance

Hello Womenworking.com members:

When it comes to the workplace, women are finding it harder to separate the at work persona they need to maintain and the home life relationship at the end of the day. The reason could be possible determination and motivation to succeed, and dedication to their employment to make that possible. Despite determination being a positive attribute in the workforce, it is important for women to remove themselves from the workplace after a hard day at work, taking time to renew and rejuvenate both mind and body in between the constant demands at work.

While many may argue that the ability to stay focused on goals is a positive attribute to have, the ability to define both your workplace and home life as two separate entities makes for an equal processing and digestion of a day’s work, while promoting mental health with relaxation and personal enjoyment when at home. By separating the two and deterring from working after-hours from home, life remains an equal balance of stress, relaxation, work and play.

Work & Life Balance

There seems to be a shift in what women want these days. When there has to be such strong deliniations between work and home I think stress levels increase. We live in a time when people are looking for more from their work. The words "purpose", "fulfillment" and "spirit", are being tossed around more than ever. As working women, we spend so much time away from our families, then come home to find ourselves nurturing everyone else and forgetting about ourselves.

I think we need to do work we love, so we can be truly refreshed when we come home. We need to focus on finding our purpose so that we can truly enjoy all that life has to offer. Balance is necessary, but there would be less of a need for it if we were able to experience joy at work and at home.

Work & Life Balance

Hi Akili:

I totally agree with your comment. Women are just naturally born to take on too much.

If the bulk of your time is spent working, your personal life and health will take a huge hit and the damage can be difficult, at best, to reverse. You should not spend your entire life missing out on truly living and enjoying all that life has to offer. You must learn to safeguard your health and well-being. You’ll definitely reap the benefits.
