I don't know of anybody who is always motivated to do what they "need" to do. From exercising to writing the book you've always wanted to write, what do you do when you just aren't "feeling it."
Here's one thing I do that works really well for me:
I imagine myself halfway or more into the activity and play it out to what I see, hear and feel afterwards. That can be done in even 30 seconds.
That almost always puts me into a mental and emotional place where I'm feeling motivated and can get going.
What works for you?
Let us know how you do, and thanks for posting!
An excellent suggestion. Thank you for posting this.
Very useful...I do that too...you know what also helps me...to think about the end result of the action, as an act of "service." Even, when I am not motivated, and I know the action will be of benefit myself and/or other people, I take it.
Thanks Alan, Helene
Thanks for the tip that is extremely useful. I'm trying to train for the CIBC run for the Cure in October, and I've never run a 5k in my life. Hopefully I can apply your advice to my training.
