About Helene

Best Friends

The bond between women friends is very powerful and may even be rooted in physiology. Some researchers have found that having close connections can lead to healthier, more fulfilling lives.

The unique bond between women friends is explored and celebrated in the moving half-hour documentary, Best Friends: The Power of Sisterhood. In the program, viewers hear from women spanning the generations — childhood friends, college friends, neighbors and colleagues, as well as friends brought together by the death of a loved one. Also appearing in the documentary is Jamie Lee Curtis, who talks about how important her girlfriends are in her life.

From humorous to joyful to poignant, the stories and heartfelt reflections shared in Best Friends are sure to resonate deeply with every woman who has ever had a close friend.

Among those featured in Best Friends are Andi, Maggie, Angie, Brandy and Becky, friends since grade school whose bond strengthened following the death of Andi's mother; Kate and Denise, neighbors whose friendship was cemented when Kate helped Denise through a frightening medical emergency; Vy and Miki, businesswomen who draw inspiration from each other; Kym, Robin and Dawn, women who formed a friendship based on mutual respect and encouragement while growing up in West Baltimore; and actor Jamie Lee Curtis, who shares her thoughts on the special bond between friends.
