How to Stop Hanging Onto Him When You Know You Should Let Go

More often than not – when a relationship is over, it should stay that way. It’s important to trust your gut and move on after ending things with someone, even if you miss them deeply.

Grieve: Be sure to allow yourself sufficient time to grieve a broken relationship. It’s completely normal.

Block and unfollow: Start by unfollowing or blocking that person on social media. This way, you won’t be stuck looking at their pictures and updates on their life. Time heals; the less you see them, the less you’ll think about them. Out of sight, out of mind.

Reflect: Consider all of the issues you have with that person. Some may be reconcilable over time and some may not. Look at the list you’ve made and imagine yourself walking back into that situation. Not so pretty, right?

Don’t fall back into the trap: You’ll miss each other at first and will want to try to work things out soon after.  Avoid seeing one another for the time being. Remember that it’s best to let go of an unhealthy relationship rather than to remain in a grey area.

Move along: Focus on building and rebuilding relationships with others in your life. It’s time to start a new chapter.
