Womenworking.com at the Clinton Global Initiative Reception

New York City has been abuzz this week, even more than usual, with both the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Annual Meeting and the UN General Assembly in town.

The Womenworking.com team attended the CGI Reception last night at the Museum of Modern Art, where we had a chance to talk to guests on what makes a strong women. Prime Ministers, wives of dignitaries, and celebs like Julia Ormond spoke to us…we even got up close to President Bill Clinton and Chelsea!

In its sixth year, the CGI Annual Meeting is a gathering for heads of state, business leaders, and nonprofit directors from all over the world to come together, share ideas and discuss challenges and solutions to many of the world’s problems.

The agenda includes topics on women, and on Tuesday, Hillary Clinton spoke about Empowering Girls and Women. The session discussed strategies for enabling girls and women to access education, high-quality health care, and viable economic opportunities. The Secretary of State said: “Empowering girls and women is both smart policy and smart business. When given opportunities to learn and work, women can drive economic growth and development.”

The CGI continues through this afternoon.
