Academy Award-winning actor Michelle Yeoh has finally tied the knot with her longtime partner Jean Todt after a 19-year engagement. The couple exchanged vows in a romantic ceremony in Geneva on July 27, 2023, surrounded by their closest family and friends. The couple first met in Shanghai in June 2004 and have been inseparable ever since. Todt proposed to Yeoh on July 26, 2004, and she said yes!
Yeoh, who earlier this year made history as the first Asian woman to win an Academy Award for best actress, shared photos of the wedding celebration on Instagram, including one where she held her Oscar statue. Congratulations to the happy couple on their beautiful wedding!
The couple’s love story has been a long one, but it has only grown stronger over the years. Yeoh, who earlier this year made history as the first Asian woman to win an Academy Award for best actress, confirmed her marriage to Todt, a former head of Ferrari, on Instagram over the weekend. Her post featured images of the two exchanging rings and another of them sitting snuggled together on a bed decorated with flower petals.
But that’s not all. Yeoh also held an Oscar statue in her wedding photos, and a shot of a printed wedding message posted to Instagram by racing driver Felipe Massa gave fans a glimpse into the long love story that led to last week’s nuptials.
The message read, “We met in Shanghai on 4th June 2004. On 26th July 2004, J.T. proposed to marry M.Y. and she said YES! Today after 6,992 days on 27th July 2023 in Geneva surrounded by loving family and friends, we are so happy to celebrate this special moment together!”
Yeoh has been making headlines for her incredible performances on the big screen. This year, she made history as the first Asian woman to win an Academy Award for best actress for her performance in “Everything Everywhere All at Once.”
But now, Yeoh is taking on a new role as a wife, and we couldn’t be happier for her. Congratulations to Michelle Yeoh and Jean Todt on their beautiful wedding!
