Actress Naya Rivera died tragically at the age of 33, while attempting to save her 4-year-old son, Josey, from drowning after they both exited a pontoon boat to take a swim.
Josey watched his mother sink under the water’s surface, after using the last of her power to push him back into the boat. Investigators said that “she mustered enough energy to get her son back onto the boat, but not enough to save herself.”
Naya would have been 37 years old today and Josey is now eight. He’s being raised by his father, Ryan Dorsey, who regularly updates fans on the boy’s life.
