Rhea Perlman and Danny DeVito have just had an exciting addition to their family.
Perlman, 75, shared on a podcast with Julia Louis-Dreyfus that one of her and DeVito’s three children welcomed a baby girl named Sinclair Lucille DeVito.
DeVito, 78, and Perlman, 75, have three adult children: Jacob, 34, Grace, 37, and Lucy, 39.
“It just happened seven weeks ago,” Perlman revealed. “It’s amazing. Everybody said it’ll change your life when you have a grandchild, and it does.”
Perlman also noted during the podcast how the baby is carrying the last name DeVito, despite her daughter’s married status. Perlman also shared how she’s feeling regarding her new role as grandma.
“I’m spending a considerable amount of time, but trying not to get in their face every day. But we live pretty close together. I live on the east side of LA and so do they, so it’s an easy 10-minute drive,” she said.
Perlman told Louis-Dreyfus that she would like to be called “Grandma Rhee Rhee” or just “Rhee Rhee.”
The “Matilda” actress provided some parenting advice during the podcast, saying that parents should always be there for their kids but also warned against being overwhelming.
Also during the interview, Perlman revealed that she and DeVito are still married despite separating in 2012.
“Danny and I, we are still married… and we are still very good friends and we see each other a lot. And our family is still the most important thing to both of us,” Perlman said.
“I’m not going to sugarcoat it, it was very difficult at first,” Perlman said, referencing when she and DeVito first split in 2012. “And there were a lot of reasons that we separated… It took time for us to come to this somehow pretty decent understanding and relationship with each other.”
