06/21/2023: Sharon Stone is opening up about her 17-year-old son–who remained unnamed in the following story–was offered the prescription Oxycontin on six separate occasions by hospital staff, while having pins placed in his leg following a skiing injury.
Stone, who is an outspoken advocate for those suffering from drug addiction, said, “I modeled in New York in the late ’70s and the ’80s. I spent a lot of time at Studio 54. A lot of my friends are dead [because of drugs]. Don’t f— with me.”
“Every single stop along the way for the next day and a half I had to have it re-put in his chart. ‘Can you please read it back to me?’ In a day and a half that it took for him to get a rod and seven pins in his leg, I got six calls. From four nurses, from an anesthesiologist, from doctors, from people completely unrelated to my son’s situation, telling me why my son needed OxyContin and no other drug would do. No other drug!”
Stone says that after her son was offered it a sixth time, she threatened to go to the media, saying, “if I get one more of these calls I’m going to say that your hospital is a drug cartel.’ This is not because I or Nan disagree with painkillers. We don’t. We disagree with paid drug dealers.”
04/07/2023: On Thursday, Sharon Stone posted an Instagram tribute to her brother, Patrick Stone, who passed away of a sudden cardiac arrest. In the video, she and Patrick stand in front of water, with Patrick’s wife, Tasha, and their two children, Kaylee and Hunter. The caption reads, “Thinking of my bro and days gone by 🥰 ❣️”
The death of Patrick came after the death of his son and her godson, River. At the time, Stone said,
“The fact that my godson was able to save three lives, two infants and a 45-year-old man was sanctuary for our family,” she shared at the time. “I can only say that you never, never know when a tragedy will happen in your life or in your family, but this opportunity be an organ donor, it saved us, saved our family.”
ORIGINAL ARTICLE: Sharon Stone’s younger brother, Patrick Stone, has passed away at the age of 57. A representative from the reporting coroner’s office said his death, “is being ruled as a sudden cardiac death due to heart disease.”
This comes after a previous tragedy for the Stone family on August 30, 2021, when Patrick’s 11-month-old son, River, passed away. River experienced total organ failure, before his untimely passing.
At the time, Stone told People that she was able to take solace in the fact that River was able to help others, stating, “The fact that my godson was able to save three lives, two infants and a 45-year-old man, was a sanctuary for our family. I can only say that you never, never know when a tragedy will happen in your life or in your family, but this opportunity to be an organ donor, it saved us, saved our family.”
Patrick’s widow, Tasha Stone wrote, of both passings,
“My heart feels like it’s been ripped out of my chest. Patrick went to be with our sweet River … I don’t know what else to say, he was my world. I’m not sure what life is supposed to look like without my husband by my side and quite honestly I don’t want to, but I will of course,” Tasha continued. “Until we meet again I will forever hold you and our wonderful (and some not so wonderful but just as important) memories close to my heart and will visit those memories always.”
