UPDATE 08/17/2023: Tim and Faith are celebrating 27 years together, with Tim saying in a recent statement:
“We always say we’re 27 years coming up, we always say it’s like 96 in show business. It’s almost like dog years. We just made a commitment early on, when we first decided we were going to get married and have kids, that we wouldn’t just walk out the door when problems arose.”
ORIGINAL ARTICLES: Tim McGraw and Faith Hill have been going strong for 26 years. The country-singing couple who first met while touring together are very outspoken about each other’s importance in their life.
McGraw has even credited his wife for saving his life, when he realized he was in the throws of alcoholism. “I remember a moment when I was getting out of bed and going to the liquor cabinet and taking a big shot at 8:00 in the morning and thinking, I have to wake the kids up,” he said. “I went straight to my wife and said, ‘This is where I’m at.’ I was scared. She just grabbed me and hugged me and changed my life.”
Despite their bump, McGraw committed to sobriety with Hill’s help and the pair now share a wonderful—relatively normal!—married life. Although, there is one thing that makes the two stand-out, beside their talented careers: McGraw and Hill are still head-over-heels in love with one and other. McGraw has wrote,
“My wife always says, ‘You’re not scared of anything.’ I say, ‘Ehhh, one thing. I’m looking at it right now.’ I didn’t know love could feel so good. Was it an emotion? Was it a lifestyle? Was it an imaginary thing? But love is all of those things. Love is being angry. Love is not talking for a day. Love is getting in each other’s face. Love is accepting that I’m wrong. Love is a 360-degree thing. It’s not linear. They always say you’re not supposed to fight in front of your kids. Everybody fights in front of their kids. That’s part of the deal.”
People close to the couple often remark on their palpable affection and puzzle-piece like chemistry. While Hill will admit that her husband is “a big dreamer”, McGraw says that, “she has to do all the details, come in and clean up my mess.” Hill, of course, finished his statement by saying, “With a lot of love.”
