After three years, pop-star Britney Spears revealed she is healing her relationship with her mother Lynne Spears. The ‘Circus’ singer, 41, shared in an Instagram post that her mother, 68, came to visit her at her home after three years of tension between the two. Spears was elated in her Instagram caption as she referred to Lynne as her “sweet mama” and expressed her gratitude that they were able to make things right between them.
This reconciliation comes after the mother-daughter duo had a falling out following the termination of Spear’s conservatorship that was placed on her following her 2008 public mental health crisis. The singer slammed her mother publicly just days before the conservatorship’s termination saying that while her father started her conservatorship, her mother was the one to give him the idea.
In 2021, Lynne spoke out against the conservatorship put on her daughter. Lynne spoke with two reporters from The New Yorker where she said that she was worried about her daughter’s current situation within the conservatorship where all Britney’s personal and financial decisions were made by conservators including her father Jamie Spears, 70.
Britney consistently has denounced her family publicly for the treatment they’ve given her under the 13-year conservatorship but Lynne would not give up trying to reconnect with her daughter. In September 2021, Spears posted on Instagram where she said that her family had ‘no conscience’ about the things they’d put her through. Explaining how their failure to give a genuine apology shows she doesn’t not have a family that “values me or respects me …. AT ALL”
In the comments Lynne was found trying to reach out to her daughter saying, “I am soooo sorry for your pain! I have been sorry for years! I love you so much and miss you. Please unblock me so I can speak to you in person! Britney, deep down you know how much I love and miss you! I apologize for anything and everything that’s hurt you.”
But it seems all that is water under the bridge with the recent Instagram post from Spears as she wrote, “with family there’s always things that need to be worked out … but time heals all wounds.”
