Relationships can be tricky, whether you’ve been together for 20 years or have only been on a few dates. In both situations, sex is almost always on the brain (for men and women). It’s important to have that physical chemistry, but there are some things that sex can never replace:
Getting to know someone: Men and women communicate differently, especially when it comes to expressing emotions. Don’t default to sex instead of working to connect on different levels.
Emotional support: Sex with the one you love can be comforting. However, there is no replacement when you need someone to talk to or a shoulder to cry on.
An apology: Make-up sex can be great, but it’s really just a short term solution to a deeper problem. A heartfelt conversation can be very meaningful.
Your self-esteem: After being hurt by someone, rushing into sex with another person can backfire. It’s important to process the relationship and move on when you feel ready.
