After a long day, everyone deserves to unwind. In order to minimize any stress you might have, it helps to do some things at night to prepare yourself for the following day. If you want to effectively use your time, here are five things you can do to get ahead while still recharging your batteries.
Sift through your inbox
There’s nothing that stresses me out more than a batch of unread e-mails. If you’re like I am, try to set aside some time to go through them and respond to the important ones. Catching up on e-mails might seem like something to put off, but you’ll rest easier if you’re completely informed on what you need to know before going into the next day.
Clear your work space
If your desk area is cluttered, your mind will be too. Before you leave home, try to organize your space and trash anything unnecessary. If there’s a certain room in the house where you spend the most time, declutter it from time to time as well – you’ll feel much more relaxed.
Take a nice, long shower
I know this sounds simple, but cleansing yourself is one of the best ways to refresh after a taxing day. No one wants to go to bed feeling like they have anything from the day left on their skin (whether figuratively or literally). Showers can wash away your stress and leave you feeling ready to take on whatever tomorrow has in store for you.
Put down the phone
Using your phone right before you go to bed is a surefire way to experience trouble sleeping. In order to get a good night’s rest, disconnect from electronics at least two hours before you plan on turning in for the night – you’ll find that you’re able to fall asleep much faster upon doing so.
Reflect on the day
This is the best way to get your feelings down and clear your head before bed. Organized women keep a notebook by their bedside so they record any ideas or thoughts about the day. It helps to write at the end of the day to prevent your brain from going in a million different directions – thus allowing you to sleep soundly.
