You know you have to control yourself and you just don’t feel right. You’re afraid you are going to say something to someone which you will later regret. Watch out for these signs that you might “pop” at any moment.
Everything seems like a problem. Nothing is going easily and you are annoyed. You are not usually like this, but you feel tense and unhappy. You also may not be getting enough sleep, which makes you feel worse. You squirm at bed time, overthinking nothing, but you make it seem like a big deal.
Nothing pleases you
No matter what people try to do to make you feel better, nothing pleases you – not your favorite mean or your closest friends. You really want to be alone because being with other feels like too much of an effort.
Everything feels difficult
Even simple tasks take you a long time to complete. You are known for your efficiency, but right now, it takes you three times as long to complete things. You find it hard to concentrate and you’ve become forgetful.
People just don’t understand
You have little or no compassion for the mistakes of others. Everything seems like it is being “done to you.” Why can’t people get that you just want to be alone and that you don’t want their help? Even when they, they are not very helpful. Your closest friends don’t get how bad you feel.
You are never in the present moment
You are either in the past or projecting what will happen in the future. It seems easier to be in your head than with people right now. You feel like you have nothing to give, and as a result it is easier to fantasize than to face reality. You find yourself watching old movies a lot which has a calming effect.
What to do…
Realize that you are running on empty, and need to take time out to recharge. Stop what you are doing, and if you can, get away for a few days. A change of scenery can help you regroup. Even if you can’t take a mini vacation, you can still set aside time for yourself at home or at a local park. Reflect on the things you enjoy that you probably put on the back-burner. What can you do right now to fill up? Try reading a favorite book, taking a walk in nature, listening to some soothing music. Time to regroup, recharge and relax.
